I have been working in a multinational business environment for 20+ years but struggled in not finding enough human beauty and meaning in work, under pressure for results and under will-o-the-wisp organisational identity. Then I repressed a passion for piano and... finally found the solution - integrating work with meaning, success with time, expectations with Life and results with compassion. Now I bring that solution to you.
Globalisation and the development of information technology have created new organisational challenges. Accelerated pace of life means lack of time, permanently high expectations and performance pressure. Restructured work put into inter-cultural and matrix working environments is, in itself, a big challenge. Staying authentic and influencing without positional power is nearly impossible. It all results in lost focus, inadequate work-life balance, lack of resilience and high stress. Also, people easily lose personal authenticity and meaning - losing the essential means you have to give up working with constant joy and freedom. You can only live your talent if you find focus. You can only motivate others if you are motivated yourself.
On the stage of business
I have been composing and playing piano since I was 5. For 30 years I have developed my craft, quietly behind closed doors, hours and hours of practise, hours and hours of wrong notes, I (mostly) patiently corrected to ensure I could play the composition seamlessly. And finally I am out with my true art.
While my mother was expecting me she constantly listened to three pieces: Tchaikovsky piano concerto in b-minor, Chopin piano concerto in e-minor and Mendelson's violin concerto. However, as a grown up I chose a rational field to work in, I became a businessman. I learned a lot about how to be successful and that success has nothing to do with happiness. At one point I was brave enough to ask myself: who am I? And then the research started and still lasts... Music is more than just notes on the piano. Press one key and make a simplistic sound, play more than one key and create a beautiful chord, push that even further, add a few more ingredients and you create a beautiful symphony. The symphony of your life...
